The Bread of Life Centre exists to serve the needs of the marginalized, the unhoused, seniors, families, and people who want to get to know their neighbour; treating all people with dignity and respect, encouraging people, facilitiating social, personal and spiritual growth.
We are a safe place for those in Port Alberni who need a meal, companionship and support. Everyone welcome!
Meals are provided 7 days a week:
- breakfast 9:00am-10:30am
- lunch 12:00pm-1:30pm
- dinner 5:00pm-6:30pm
We serve approximately 200+ guests each day. Upon request, personal hygiene items & incontinence supplies may be available.
Services offered
- 25 bed shelter – 7 days a week, 9:00pm-7:30am.
- Crafts – Tuesdays, 1:00pm-2:30pm.
- Wednesday clinics:
- Government support and CMHA 10:30am-12:00pm
- VIHA 11:00am-1:00pm
- Movie night – Thursdays 6:30pm
- Case management:
- Pathways of Hope program intake: provides individualized support to those facing challenges like poverty and vulnerability. It aims to help participants break cycles of crisis and achieve both short- and long-term goals.
- Assistance with various housing and financial applications: Monday – Friday 8:00am-12:00pm
The Bread of Life Centre meal program is funded by community donations and has no income, no government funding. Our sole source of income is YOU the business’s, local individuals, friends of friends and distant family of the people of the City of Port Alberni. Our income and survival depends on donations.
